Was recently surfing an art gallery - an artist in a club I'm part of posted a Na'vi character from Avatar. Yes, hurray, band wagon.
The picture was nice. The Na'vi is all cocky and goofy and hanging his tongue out; mind you, this is a roleplay character so please keep his attitude in the image in mind while reading the history.
(Name changed to protect the poorly developed.) My comments in Italics - makes sense if you've seen Avatar. DOO EEEET.
Spoilers if you haven't seen the movie. Not big ones, but still.
( Read on! )
Maybe it's just me, but I think he needs a little more work. And maybe a little more logic. As fantazing as the Na'vi are, guess what. They die too.

#1 - Oh I wish I had words to describe how much I currently despise you. Really. I informed you back in October that I wouldn't be on as much. My husband lost his job, therefore losing our insurance, our house, and pretty much everything else. Along with that, my baby girl is behind on shots and has been on-and-off sick because we can't pay for her to get them. Not to mention I've been having a hard time. I don't deal with stress well. I've explained several times before that I have an severe anxiety disorder, and I'm manic depressive. I no longer am on medication, so I'm a bit sensitive. Yet you insist I'm lying? You say I am ignoring you, and send me nasty email after nasty email about how I'm a selfish pig? What the hell? When you went through rough times, I was nothing but supportive. I even gave you a bit of money. But since it's my turn to have hard times, I'm a horrid person? I'm destroying our RP relationship, even though you've been the one to say 'No' every time I offer? Forget it. Our RP was fun. But it's not worth the added stress.
#2 - Your creepy. You really are. I'm fine at being friends OoC. It makes RPing more fun. But your getting really insistant on learning things I would rather keep private. Why do you need to know where I live? and what will having my phone number do to help you? Our RP is crossing into creepy levels to. I've already asked you to tone the creepyness down, and explained what's bothering me, so it's up to you if this ends up in blocking, or friendship.
#3 - Oh little precious. I know your new to the RP world, but your fixating on our RP to much. Really. any drama that happens in the RP gets pulled into real life. I'm wondering if you fully understand that IC is not OoC in any way. I don't have a problem with you, my character is a bit cold, and rather nitpicky. I think your awesome, and you take criticism well, but please learn to separate RP and OoC. Also, I know you love this fandom oh super so much, but I have seen it all as well. There's no need to treat me like I know nothing, just because I'm older than you. I'm strange and watch cartoons all the time. I know all about the fandom I'm rping, thank you very much.
The skinny: Whats with my horrid luck in roleplayers ._.

Dark Horse Comics released solicitations today, including a preview for the book Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Art of the Animated Series, a hardcover book set to release on June 2nd.

Since its debut in 2005, Avatar: The Last Airbender has remained one of Nickelodeon's most talked about and highest-rated animated series to date, and it's not too hard to see why . . . Not only does it offer an epic storyline, engaging characters, action, adventure, and a powerful message about the importance of hope in a world long-besieged by war, all the while serving up top-notch entertainment. It's also beautifully executed, a stunning masterpiece of animated storytelling that harmonizes Western influences with aesthetic inspiration drawn from a diverse array of cultures, including those of China, Japan, India, and the Inuit. They also released the cover, which features a very nice picture of Aang. (Looking pretty ethnically Asian, imho.)
An unprecedented look at the concept, design, and production art behind this smash-hit series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Art of the Animated Series chronicles the show's development—from the very first sketch through to the series finale and beyond!—along with behind-the-scenes commentary from series creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino.
May I just say that fur and fire are both horribly time-consuming to paint ;__;

I... actually really don't like the Cyndaquil line much at all. There's very few fire types I actually like, when I think about it; I'm too dedicated a water-type trainer :p He's got a cute pudgy tummy though, poking him could be quite fun, for all of 5 seconds before you were burned alive :/

Because I've been really short on time for a few months now, I've been doing rough sketches for my submissions without reference. I totally forgot Quilavas mohawk when drawing out the rough, and I admit I liked it better without the extra fire... but being anal about the official designs won out in the end hehe.

I actually really enjoyed drawing Typhlosion, it felt really... substantial. Plus, fluffy! I did her with a bear in mind, though someone on DA said 'phlosion was meant to be a badger. Can't really say I see it myself :)

Rant #1: Does anyone else have one of those people you really, really love to RP with and you always look forward to doing so with them? I have a partner I've been roleplaying with for... like 6 years now. Our characters have incredibly complex backgrounds because of it and I'm really comfortable playing those characters. Things just flow. Because we have a 13 hour time difference, though, it's hard to find a time that works for us. My work schedule's changed, though, and I was totally stoked to roleplay with her. First two days, no big deal. We roleplayed for a while and it was awesome. Then the next three days, when I asked, she just wouldn't respond to my IMs. I know she's there. She's posting status on like Facebook and her status says she's there but she goes idle every now and again. Dude, if you just say 'hey, not today, I'm so tired from work' or something like that, I know to stop bugging you. But when you can't even say Hi or something, it's totally annoying. I dunno, it rubs me the wrong way completely.
Rant #2: When you do a group roleplay, it's a group. This group is only a threebie, and because of time differences again, it makes it hard to find time. And not just that, but my internet's been out. But the other two don't just go "eff if, she's not here so let's ignore her characters and continue on" when you're in the middle of a serious conversation or important actions. Because I saw they had gone on like 15-20 multi paragraph posts, I can't even catch up, and I was like 'you know what, nevermind. You guys just roleplay' YOU CAN'T BITCH. You can't be like "No no no no, we'll just say Character C took you're character away and it'll be all good". It's not all good, because maybe I had ideas during the portion the other two were going on with.
I don't even know if that's comprehend able. Yay 3 AM.

Some time ago a friend had moved away. He ended up moving back and gave a quite... odd story. While away in another land he looked for new gaming groups. He did some D&D but managed to find a RIFTS group to join.
While at this RIFTS group, before the start of the actual session, they had some chit-chat, you know; introduction to people stuff. In this chatter he made mention how three of his friends (one being myself) have gotten the chance to meet with the Palladium crew including Kevin himself. Suddenly it seems the GM had some kind of fit and ordered him to leave this game and not come back.
Confused yet? Yes, that's right, my friend was told to leave a RIFTS game for knowing people that know the head of the company that makes the game. I mean... would you tell someone to leave a D&D game because they knew someone that had met Gary Gygax before his passing? I mean granted, I know Kevin is not always the easiest of people to work with or for, and I know there have been some unfounded rumors about him ( and a joke that he and Steve Jackson are secretly one person and a doppleganger or something because they have apparently never appeared in the same place at the same time) but it seriously strikes me as odd that a GM would act this way over a... well I guess 'chain of association' is how I'd see it.
What really dumbfounded my friend was the guy just throwing him out rather than having anything to ask about the guy that made the game they were playing possible. I know if I was playing a Star Wars game and someone there had a friend that had met George Lucas on several occassions I certainly would have a few questions to ask, wouldn't you?

So today, my GM approached our group and said that she doesn't need us anymore because she bought a plastic vagina.
My GM is a girl. . .
She did this after having to put up with a couple horribly bad players. Some of their crimes included but were not limited to-
Bickering, fighting, and generally trying to make eachother's lives difficult, breaking campaigns at every opportunity, and one particular instance, breaking down a thick, possibly magic, stone door as opposed to solving a puzzle involving making things line up.
There's alot more to it then that, but this is not really my experience, I was acting as a fleshy sock for a friend. By the way, Fen, I know you're reading this, help me stop looking like a crazy person. >.>
TL;DR~ DM is tired of putting up with bad players, and tells us that a sex toy we're not even sure how she'd go about using is more interesting then us as her last hurrah.
EDIT 1~ elaborated
EDIT 2~ Further elaboration.

If I see one more jackass who thinks it'd be clever to join a Mass Effect RP with a character named Revan, I will yell a lot and be very cross.
I guess it's not a real BRP, but it does make me want to break my face over a chair.

Minor complaint, really, but it's just so annoying...
It makes me really happy that, when we pointed out your mistake, you took it very well and very maturely, and fixed it immediately. That's awesome.
But god dammit, player, that weapon list is there for a reason, and that reason is so none of us have the same weapon or waste our time on an idea for a weapon that's already taken. It isn't hard to find, it was right there in the same thread you posted to reserve other player's weapon. Is it really that hard to look, or even CTRL+F it?
This might not annoy me so much if it wasn't obvious you never read anything on the thread. Ever.

You've named your character Aristole. That's okay. He's your pup, you can name him whatever the hell you want. He gets irritated, however, when people call him Aristotle. That's also okay. They're similar names, after all. But you claim he's named for a famous Greek philosopher. For some mysterious reason, I feel like you're doing something wrong.
Kakuna is one of my favorite Pokemon design wise. It just looks so cool! To bad it is only around for like 3 levels and is virtually worthless attack-wise.

The major news organizations and blogs are starting to put out their hype lists for 2010 and I think some of them have some telling information. I've been checking around since I'm a movie geek in general and what I see for far encourages me. The Last Airbender seems to be barely on the radar for most of them and where it is mentioned, the casting and changes to the setting and story are frequently popping up in the comments and I frequently see the Racebending.com name pop up as a huge source of information for people. Most of them are mentioning the race fail and it would seem that my earlier prediction of M Night's name being on it not helping has come true. For a lot of people he seems to have used up the last of his good will from his earlier films.
That aside, I thought this was rather telling. This is the BBC's list of movies coming out in 2010 that are based off of existing properties and guess what's missing? Not a peep about The Last Airbender. They mention everything from Prince of Persia to The A-Team to The Road to Saw VII, but nothing about Paramounts little block of fail. It looks more and more to me that this film might get thwomped by everything else out there.
May mean something, maybe not, but it amused me.

Since I've been able to do little but sit around the house while sick, I've been able to work on my characters in Perfect World (International) a lot more :) As a result, my main character finally hit level 80 this week :D
( Cut for geekiness and pics. May or may not sound like greek to you. )
I really do encourage people to try PWI. Heck, I got it running on my little netbook to bring with me overseas.
Now, back to trying to stand up without stumbling around. *curses the fact that the ear influences ones sense of balance*
